Can you tell us a bit about your role within the team and what your day-to-day responsibilities look like?

I work with our clients on a variety of projects to create a custom, fit-for-purpose solution. I design and deliver training programs, including e-based and hybrid learning solutions, through to designing workforce planning documents and identifying processes required for system implementations. My role is all about making work easier for individuals and teams through harnessing collaborative opportunities and skills development.

How did you start your career in HR, and what led you to your current position?

I started my career after studying HR and working as a training specialist in London’s business airports – Heathrow. After moving to Australia I landed my first job here as a recruitment consultant through the boom years of the mining industry. Since then, I’ve worked in HR specialising in L&D solutions within many industries including Construction, Aviation, Health and Oil & Gas.

What are the key skills you believe are necessary for success in your role, and how have you developed these over your career?

Communication, clarity and curiosity are key elements I use every day. I love to understand, make connections around the “why” and then problem solve. I have a natural solution focus to my work which enables me to provide strategies to support clients move through challenges. Throughout my career I’ve been able to develop my technical skills in instructional design and technology integration as the industry evolves.  Working in hybrid environments keeps my approach to work adaptable with the flexibility to deal with change.

Can you share a professional achievement you are particularly proud of?

I’ve been very fortunate in my career so far and had the opportunity to work on some amazing projects. 2 which remain a highlight was being involved in developing individuals with the skills to operate one of the largest privately owned airports in the southern hemisphere, mixing aviation and mining together. The other has been the ability to support front line health workers during covid, transferring face-to-face workshops to e-learning modules through instructional designed methods.
