Can you tell us a bit about your role within the team and what your day-to-day responsibilities look like?

I am a People Solutions Specialist! I work with clients to understand their business and provide advice and recommendations related to all things people! This can range from HR advice, recruitment and training to strategic planning, policy and reporting.

How did you start your career in HR, and what led you to your current position?

I started out as a Recruitment consultant for a small agency before moving into internal recruitment. Prior to this I had also completed a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in Psychology and Criminology. I moved into a HR Business Partner role within the Retail industry in 2016 and since then I have also worked as HR Business Partner in the Construction and Oil and Gas industries. Most recently I worked as an Organisational Development Specialist in Aged Care which involved projects to drive company culture, engagement and capability. I love working with different businesses and looking ways to bring out the best in their people to create an engaged high performing culture. Being a People Solutions Specialist for Zest HR is the perfect opportunity to do this!

What are the key skills you believe are necessary for success in your role, and how have you developed these over your career?

Good listening skills, business acumen, adaptability and emotional intelligence. I have been fortunate to work with some wonderful leaders who have provided valuable advice and feedback (both positive and constructive!). It is also important to reflect on areas where there are opportunities for improvement and always maintain a growth mindset.

Can you share a professional achievement you are particularly proud of?

Successfully completing my Graduate Certificate in HR Management during the peak of Covid. This was done whilst navigating the constant changing landscape from an HR perspective which involved guiding managers and employees through mandates and restrictions. It was a challenging time but one that I am really proud of.
